MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — After a thrilling walk-off win over UCF and another series sweep, WVU baseball has earned a ranking in three national polls.

Notably, West Virginia (22-13, 11-4) checks in at No. 22 in the D1Baseball poll. It holds the No. 18 ranking in the Baseball America poll, its highest current mark. WVU is also No. 21 in the Perfect Game Top 25.

The Old Gold and Blue also climbed 17 slots in RPI, moving from 44 to 27, and essentially rebounding from a 3-2 loss at Marshall.

West Virginia also makes its first appearance of the year in the USA Today Coaches Poll, checking in at No. 24. That is a 13-spot improvement from last week.

Randy Mazey’s crew received votes in the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association poll for a second consecutive week, but not enough to jump into the Top 25.

This marks the first week West Virginia has held a ranking in any poll this season, earned after taking three-straight against the then-No. 17 Knights over the weekend.

The red-hot Mountaineers have swept back-to-back Big 12 opponents and are winners of seven league games in a row against Oklahoma State, Kansas and UCF.

WVU remains atop the Big 12 standings. The Mountaineers and Oklahoma each boast 11-4 conference records. WVU took two of three from the Sooners on the road in March.

Up next, the Mountaineers host Pitt Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at Wagener Field at Kendrick Family Ballpark. Big 12 play resumes Friday when WVU begins a three-game series at Texas Tech.
