COLUMBIA, Miss. (WDAM) - A school resource officer for the Columbia School District has just been named one of the best at her job in the country. Lt. Brenda Young, an officer with the school safety division of Columbia Police Department, has been selected for an exceptional service award by the National Association of School Resource Officers.

Fundraiser started for Mississippi E-911 dispatcher, family who lost home to recent storms
Funds are being raised for a Mississippi E-911 dispatcher whose family suffered severe storm damage while she was helping save other lives and property. A GoFundMe account was started Monday for the Delaughter family in Lawrence County. By Tuesday at noon the fundraising efforts had reached $2,825 in donations with a goal of $20,000.
Columbia football coach Chip Bilderback resigns after six seasons to take Louisiana job
Columbia football coach Chip Bilderback has resigned from the program after six seasons and accepted another coaching job in Louisiana to be closer to his wife. Bilderback has accepted a head coaching job at St. Frederick High School in Monroe, La. His wife, Missy Bilderback, just finished her first year as women's basketball coach at Louisiana-Monroe. After being apart for a year after Missy coached her first season in her new role, Chip wanted to be closer to his family.
