Three California Outback Steakhouse locations shutter

An Australian-themed steakhouse known for its seasoned steaks and signature dishes like the Bloomin Onion is closing three Southern California locations after an independently owned franchisee filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. Cerca Trova Restaurant Group Holdings, which operates as Out West Restaurant Group, filed for bankruptcy Nov. 2 in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware, according to court records . The independently owned franchisee operates Outback Steakhouse restaurants in five western states. The bankruptcy filing follows the closure of 10 Outback restaurants in October and three additional locations earlier this year, according to Fast Company . The company has faced years of financial challenges, including declining customer traffic and rising food and labor costs. The Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection puts 61 remaining locations across the western United States up for sale. Which Outback Steakhouse locations in California recently closed? Outback closed 10 restaurants between Oct. 11 and Oct. 25, according to Fast Company. The franchisee said the restaurants were operating at a loss or generating insufficient revenue to cover occupancy expenses. How many readers remember Tiny Naylor’s Drive-In? Motorists coming up to the northwest corner of Sunset and La Brea used to have one of Hollywood's most unique sights. There was a vast winged roof under which cars would gather around a restaurant that was brilliantly lit. Carhops in uniform would come out and serve you your meal. You could eat in your car, movie stars would come in and have their meal in their car, the teens would drive past hoping to see a celebrity and the hungry night owls would know they could have a meal at any time of the night. That was Tiny Naylor's Restaurant and Drive-In at 7101 Sunset Boulevard. It was one of the landmarks of Hollywood, as much a part of the Hollywood scene as the studios, the theatres and the nightclubs.
