MONTPELIER — Bear Lake High School's annual Junior/Senior Prom hit the spotlight this year, shining brighter than ever with a Hollywood-themed extravaganza that left attendees feeling like they were starring in their own blockbuster film.

The event, which recently took place in the school's gymnasium, was hailed by many as one of the best proms they’ve ever attended.

Seniors took center stage during the traditional senior walk, a poignant moment where each senior was recognized for their achievements and contributions to the school community.

“As my date and I were getting ready to walk, I was kinda nervous,” explained senior class president Kalista Schwab. “We had hidden confetti cannons in our pockets that we were going to use when we walked out, and we hadn’t asked permission to use them. But we went out, used our cannons, and it all went super well. It was a great experience that I will never forget.”

The crowning of prom royalty added an extra touch of Hollywood magic to the evening.

Celeste Harper was crowned queen, while Christian Bush assumed the role of king. Tayzley Neal and Devan Hoge were named princess and prince, respectively, rounding out the court with style and grace.

Each was given a crown, a sash and a beautiful 3-D printed Oscar designed by teacher Rich Kearl.

One of the highlights of the evening was the presence of drink mixologists Taryn Crane, Nate Wuthrich and Cameron Crane, who concocted delicious beverages, complemented by snacks and bags of popcorn, adding a playful touch to the festivities.

Reflecting on the challenges faced during the planning process, junior class president Devan Hoge remarked, "We had some challenges as we decorated, like getting the wrong floor, having some kits not have all the parts, and not having our walls because they had been taken to the landfill, but we came together and worked hard. When I came into the room Saturday night, I was amazed. It was stunning."

Junior adviser Tabetha Bissegger shared Hoge's sentiments, expressing pride in the students' ability to overcome unexpected setbacks and transform obstacles into opportunities for creativity.

"We had a lot of unexpected setbacks this year, but the students were innovative and came up with great ideas to address those issues," said Bissegger. "They worked so hard that we finished decorating early and created one of my very favorite proms out of the 14 years I have overseen this activity. We had a great turnout and saw students stay and dance long into the night."

As the curtains closed on Bear Lake High School's Hollywood-themed prom, it was clear that the memories created on this magical night would be cherished for years to come, proving that sometimes reality can outshine even the glitz and glamour of Tinseltown.
