Ethan Mitchell and Kai Sheridan of Milton picked up conference championships at the Badger Large Conference track and field meet in Oregon on Tuesday night. Mitchell was a three-time winner in familiar events, the 110 high hurdles, the long jump and the triple jump. His winning time in the hurdles was 15.33 seconds, while he leapt 21 feet, 9 inches in the long jump pit and 43 feet, 10.25 inches on the triple jump runway. ...

BELLEVILLE — Lake Mills’ boys track and field team tied for fourth place at Friday’s Raider Invitational held at Belleville High School. The L-Cats scored 65 points. The 3,200-meter relay team of senior Jack Phillips, sophomore Max Springer, junior Braxton Walter and junior Saul Lopez won by 15 seconds in 8:39.09. Junior Mallorie Kreuser pitched two gems and had a game-winning hit in two games on Saturday, May 11, at LeGrange Elementary School in Tomah. Kreuser had an RBI single to propel Verona by Holmen 3-2 on Saturday. She also tossed 11 ⅓ innings and struck out 16 in a nail-biting 4-3 loss to Tomah in 12 innings.

Mallorie Kreuser fooled ’em once, but Janesville Craig’s softball team wasn’t about to get fooled again by the Verona ace on Tuesday. The teams first finished a suspended game the Wildcats led 9-0 before play was stopped in the fourth inning on a rainy afternoon in Janesville last month. The final score on that one was 11-0 in five innings in Verona’s favor, and Kreuser’s performance went into the record book as a complete-game one-hitter. ...

Senior Noah Kundert wanted to have the same feeling previous Wildcat runners have experienced in winning a conference championship in a long distance event. Kundert ran a lifetime-best time of 1 minute, 56.19 seconds in the 800-meter run to win a conference title in the event on Friday, May 10, at the Big Eight Conference meet at Verona Area High School.
Boys track: Pole vaulters help Oregon to fourth at Tom Mueller Invitational
The Oregon boys track and field team had three top-five finishers in the pole vault to finish fourth at the Tom Mueller Invitational on Friday, May 10, at Oregon High School. Oregon junior Jacob Yoerger finished first in the pole vault with a height of 14 feet, 6 inches. Senior Leo Jacobs finished fourth in the event with a height of 11 feet and Oregon teammate and junior Simon Niemcek tied for fifth with a 10-6.
