The National Weather Service in Central Illinois is forecasting storms on Sunday night and Monday. Meteorologists expect more active weather later in the week. CHAMPAIGN – Former Illinois football players Johnny Newton, Isaiah Adams, Tip Reiman, and Casey Washington were selected in the 2024 NFL Draft. Newton was selected in the 2nd round to the Washington Commanders, Adams and Reiman went to the Arizona Cardinals, and Casey Washington went to the Atlanta Falcons. Along with the 4 draftees, many former Illini are seeking to become undrafted free agents. Former Illini Defensive Tackle Keith Randolph Jr. has already been signed to stay in Illinois with the Chicago Bears. – Colin Hislope/IPM News.
Monticello baseball off to best start in program history: ‘They’re not done yet’
MONTICELLO — The first sign that the Monticello baseball team had something special brewing this season came on March 23 during the first round robin on the schedule. The Sages bested a talented New Berlin team 4-1 in the first game of the day before taking on Routt Catholic, a perennial power from Jacksonville who won 30 games and made a Class 1A super-sectional last year. Leading 2-1 with two outs in the top of the seventh inning, the Sages threw out a runner at home plate from center field to end the game in dramatic fashion and improve to 10-0.
Christie Clinic Illinois races to go forward Saturday morning according to race officials
URBANA – The annual Christie Clinic Illinois 10K, half marathon, and full marathon race events on Saturday morning will take place as scheduled according to race officials. According to an email sent to the public late Friday night by Meg Treat, public relations director for the event, Governor JB Pritzker, the Illinois State Police, and the cities of Champaign and Urbana worked together to staff the races with enough law enforcement to keep the runners on the courses.
Big move in the Big Ten: Sam Phillips on why he decided to transfer from Nebraska to Illinois
Not even a week after an All-American finish on high bar (sixth) and in the all-around (eighth) at the NCAA Men’s Gymnastics Championships, Sam Phillips announced on social media that he will be transferring from Nebraska to Illinois, joining the squad led by Head Coach Daniel Ribeiro for his final year of eligibility.
Former Illinois forward sticking around Big Ten for final season
Former Illinois forward Luke Goode announced Friday that he is transferring to Indiana, remaining in the Big Ten for his final season of eligibility. Goode entered the portal on Monday, quickly finding a new home in Bloomington. The 6-foot-7, 210-pound athlete is from Fort Wayne, Indiana, and he’ll live out a chance to play for his favorite childhood team. Wisconsin was reportedly interested in acquiring Goode from the portal, but once again came up empty. Goode was a four-star athlete coming out of high school, joining Brad Underwood’s squad in 2021. He spent four seasons with Illinois, most recently averaging 5.7 points and 3.6 rebounds while shooting 39% from deep in 2023-2024. The Badgers haven’t added a player from the portal after losing eight players as transfers following the 2023-2024 campaign.
