    AHSAA baseball round-up: Montgomery area round two playoff scores, round three pairings

    All series from the second round of the 2024 AHSAA baseball playoffs were completed over the weekend.

    The majority of the river region programs dominated in its opening round matchups, with several series ending in sweeps. Heading into the next stage of the bracket, here are the results from round two as a few Montgomery-area teams were eliminated.

    Class 1A

    Brantley (18-5) defeated University Charter in a 2-0 series sweep and will face Florala in the third round.

    Class 3A

    Opp (21-8) defeated Saint James (19-13) in a 2-0 series sweep and will play Thomasville next.

    Prattville Christian (24-10) defeated Excel in a 2-0 series sweep and will matchup against Providence Christian.

    Class 4A

    Trinity (25-11) defeated Northside and will face Bibb County in the third round.

    Class 5A

    Reigning Class 5A champion Holtville (22-13), defeated Headland in a 2-1 victory and will matchup against Valley.

    Class 6A

    Wetumpka (24-14) defeated Benjamin Russell and will matchup against Spanish Fort.

    Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa defeated Pike Road (24-11) in a series sweep. Hillcrest will face Baldwin County in the next round.

    Class 7A

    Central-Phenix City Red Devils swept Prattville 2-0 their first-round matchup to improve to 35-3. They will face Baker in the next round.

    Third round games are to be played May 3 and 4.
