This week, the National Weather Service issued a coastal flood advisory for Los Angeles and Ventura County beaches through Thursday, October 29 — and a coastal flood warning for Orange County. Morning high tides of 7.5 to 8 feet are testing near-record levels. Metrolink has suspended train service between Laguna Niguel and Oceanside for five days. Low-lying homes and businesses in Long Beach, Malibu, and Newport Beach have already seen damage from high surf. Long Beach resident Eric Hill put it plainly: “Uncharted territories that we’re in.”
