Gardeners may want to hold back on bringing plants out this week. With low temperatures rising nearly 20 degrees this week, the weather seems to be getting better but if last year told us anything, its that we can't be too careful.

Located in New York City, the American Folk Art Museum has won praise for its exhibition, “Unnamed Figures: Black Presence and Absence in the Early American North,” which closed there this March. Now Historic Deerfield, the second and only other venue for this ground-breaking show, is expecting crowds throughout the run there.
DASAC Spring Showcase Tops All the Polls
Student dance group Dance and Step at Amherst College (DASAC) performed their end of semester showcase on Sunday, April 28. The show’s theme was “DASAC4PRES,” a timely theme considering the upcoming national presidential election. The show took place on the first year quad despite the complication of a light rainstorm preceding the show. While the rain was over by the time the show started, it left the seating and stage soaked and slippery. Dancers took precaution by mopping the stage prior to the performance and between pieces — DASAC was committed to moving forward with the performance, rain or shine.

A seemingly out-of-place comic book surprise sits on the 21st floor of the tallest university library in the world. When. Peter Laird and Kevin Eastman created the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turt, it was an unserious and unambitious personal project that quickly spiraled their lives into unexpected stardom. Laird was born in North Adams, Massachusetts in 1954 where he then went on to study fine arts at the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 1970.

We have the pleasure of speaking with U.S. Poet Laureate Ada Limón before she makes an appearance at Smith College on April 30 for a reading and conversation. We chat about her recent publication, “You Are Here: Poetry in the Natural World,'' that explores connection with nature for especially for folx of color and consideration of tribal land. We also invite Mr. Universe and Hampshire College professor Salman Hameed into the conversation because an original poem by Limón is engraved onto the Europa Clipper which will journey to Jupiter’s second moon in October of 2024.
