The Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health on Monday opened the Antelope Valley’s first county-operated, youth-focused mental health program in Palmdale. The Antelope Valley Child and Adolescent Program is located at 2323 E. Palmdale Blvd., Suite A, and serves young people from infants up to age 21, according to a county statement. The program provides kids and family members “with client-centered and trauma-informed mental health services.”

An Inside Safe operation in East Hollywood provided housing for more than 20 homeless Los Angeles residents, officials announced Saturday. The operation was part of LA Mayor Karen Bass’ Inside Safe initiative and took place on Alexandria and Fountain avenues near a daycare facility. Staff members from the Los Angeles Homeless Service Authority, LA County Department of Mental Health and USC Street Medicine provided housing and supportive services to people who were living in the encampment.

The Riverside Youth Council has announced this year’s 25 “Most Remarkable Teens,” the city announced Thursday. The program is coordinated by the mayor’s office and the Riverside Police Department and recognizes Riverside students in grades 8-12 for their excellence in academics, athletics, arts and culture, community involvement, leadership, “courage to overcome, acts of valor, or any other remarkable accomplishments,” according to a city statement.

SANTA ANA, Calif. – A woman with three prior driving under the influence convictions was sentenced today to 15 years to life for being under the influence of numerous drugs when she hit and killed a 23-year-old woman who was 8-months pregnant out for a walk with her husband in Anaheim. The couple’s infant daughter survived the crash after being delivered through an emergency C-section following the death of her mother. The little girl, now three-years-old, was in court this morning with her father to watch the sentencing, according to the OCDA .
