Founded in 2009 in Chicago, Protein Bar & Kitchen was born out of a whole new idea for food on the go. That idea was that, “instead of fast food, we’d serve fast fuel,” says the Protein Bar website’s About page. “Shakes that were delicious, nutritious, and protein-packed. It was a success from the start but quickly became something even bigger… a game changer.”

O’Sullivan’s patty melt is a special sandwich
For diner Nora Rowley the question of her favorite meal in Forest Park required no lengthy pondering. It’s the patty melt at O’Sullivan’s Public House, 7244 Madison St. “The bread is perfect and somehow they figured out the exact amount to grill it on both sides,” Rowley said. “When I ask for it medium rare, I actually get it. That’s not easy to do on a grilled sandwich.”

How how is Panda Express' Buldak Dinamite chicken?
This week I stopped by the grand opening of a new Panda Express on Addison, which joins a growing parade of national chains lining Wrigleyville streets. The scene: Superfans lined up in the fog to score opening day merch like a furry Panda hoodie (for the first arriver) and t-shirts for 87 others. But I was there to try their new Buldak-spiced Dynamite Sweet & Sour Chicken ($9.20), available through May. The first person in line at the new Panda Express across Addison from Wrigley Field, got a furry hoodie prize for her devotion Thursday. Photo: Monica Eng/Axios The verdict: I've long dismissed Panda fare as bland mall chow but these sweet, sour, crunchy and fiery chunks sing with flavor and a heat that falls pleasingly between Hattie B's new "hot" and Hot Chi's "hott" chicken nearby. I might even go back for another swing.
