(Gulf Coast CW) — A lionfish tournament, orchestra performance, 4K run, and crawfish boil are the stars of your 5 Things to Do This Weekend for May 17-19, 2024!. 1- Chefs in the Destin-Fort Walton Beach area have been preparing unique lionfish dishes this week, leading up to the Emerald Coast Open. It’s said to be the largest lionfish tournament in the world! The pre-tournament is going on now, but the main tournament is Friday through Saturday. If you would like to participate in the tournament to help remove invasive lionfish from local waters and possibly win big prizes, you can register a team of up to 4 people. Final weigh-in is Sunday from 7 to 11am, followed by an awards ceremony that’s set to start at 3pm.

The Public Relations Council of Alabama (PRCA) Mobile Chapter is hosting a May Breakfast Mixer on May 23 at 8 a.m. with a build-your-own biscuit bar at Maple Street Biscuit Co. on Old Shell Road. PRCA Mobile will have guests from several organizations, such as the Mobile Arts Council, the City of Mobile Parks and Recreation Department, United Way of Southwest Alabama and Rebuilding Together of South Alabama and to share summer activities and volunteer opportunities.
