PENSACOLA, Fla. ( WKRG ) — Hey, y’all. I’m kind of “on the road” traveling for work and I haven’t been able to keep up with the news for the past few days.

I spent yesterday catching up on what’s going on in the world.

One thing that caught my attention was the protests on college campuses. Now, I don’t want to talk with you about that exactly or its political implications.

I want to talk to you about two words that jumped out at me, and these words were included in almost every news report I read or watched.

    Those words are “outside agitators.”

That got me thinking about the “outside agitation” that we all experience every day.

We may walk out the door in the mornings and say we have peace and joy in hearts, and it’s going to be a great day!

And then, someone cuts us off in traffic, the dog throws up in our shoe, the kids are grumpy, we have a friend or a relative that says something that really hurts our feelings and all of a sudden that “outside agitation” has taken away our inner joy and peace.

And, it can also impact our behavior.

It’s happened to me! Someone may say something that hurts my feelings or upsets me, and the next thing you know, I’m going off on the next person who crosses my path.

That’s not a good thing for me to do, and I always try to remember to go back and apologize and tell them I will try to do better the next time.

This week, I want us to do something that I talk about, especially when I’m speaking to large groups.

I tell people that while we can’t control the actions of other people, we can control our reactions to them.

This week, let’s try to make sure that our reactions are appropriate and remember that we can’t control the person or the situation that maybe got us off-kilter, but we can control we react to it.

Let’s pray for patience, a better attitude, and while we are at it, let’s pray for peace…for our world and for our college campuses.

And that’s your minute with Drexel.
