Mobile man sentenced to 25 years in prison on drug charges

MOBILE, Ala. ( WKRG ) — A Mobile man was sentenced to 25 years in prison on two drug charges, according to the Department of Justice.

42-year-old Edward Duran McGee was sentenced to 240 months in prison for conspiring to distribute cocaine and 60 months for possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime, according to a DOJ news release.

The release said McGee was arrested in Mobile in July 2021 during a traffic stop. Officers approached the car and reportedly saw “drug paraphernalia in the door pocket and an open bag of white powder on the passenger floorboard.”

While searching the vehicle, officers found a loaded Kahr CW40 pistol, a black digital scale, four bags of green plant material, two large bags of powder cocaine, one large bag of crack cocaine and a large bag of assorted pills, according to the release.

After serving his prison sentence, McGee will serve a five-year term of supervised release.

During that time, he will also undergo drug testing and treatment.
