MINOT ND ( KXNET ) — In a recent survey, 66% of Minot neighbors say they are satisfied with the ‘Magic City’ as a place to live. While 56% of neighbors are dissatisfied with the city’s efforts to prevent crime.

Minot leaders want to know why this is, and that’s why they are holding public input meetings this week, to find out.

These meetings are part of a three-step strategic plan to help improve the city.

The first step is the citizen s atisfaction survey, the second step is public input meetings, and the third step will be for city council members to review residents’ ideas and ratings, and put together a plan to reach some new goals.

The 90-minute meetings started Monday. There are two more meetings being held on Tuesday at 10 a.m. and another at 1 p.m. in the former city hall building.

“It’s important for the city to always have their finger on the pulse of the town, ” said the Communication & Engagement Manager for the City of Minot, Jennifer Kleen. “This is just another opportunity to make that happen. Will use this information, this data, to help our council grow together as a council, but also as leaders for the town.”

Elected officials will not attend these meetings and they will be run by a consulting firm. The results will be discussed with the new city council, once the election is over.
