Canterbury Park will host Minnesota's best Kentucky Derby watch party tomorrow. For some, it's the one and only race they'll attend all year.

And Canterbury Park will be packed says Deb Schaber, Director of Entertainment at Canterbury.

"We're expecting probably 8 to 10,000 people here in the building throughout the day," Schaber says.

It's the 31st straight year the Park will host such an event. But why?

"That's the fastest two minutes in sports," she says. "And people just like to come out and dress up, wear their fun hats and enjoy a Mint Julep and party for the day."

    And speaking of the hats.

"Everyone loves to put on their fascinator or wear their fedora, and we do have a best dress and a best hat contest."

Sounds like a great time for $10. It's also a lot of work for the staff.

"My team works for many months preparing for this event in terms of bringing in the entertainment, the photo stations, the flowers," Schaber says. "We have dozens and dozens of roses out here on Saturday and it's a lot of fun to bring the events together."

Doors open at 8am, but the race doesn't start until 5:57 p.m. To be exact.
