A temporary agreement between student protesters and the University of Minnesota seems to have put an end to pro-Palestinian demonstrations on campus, at least for now.

On the lawn outside Northrop Auditorium, only the shell of two tents remain as the protest encampment is dismantled by students who say they've come to an agreement with the University that they believe in.

"Basically relay it over to us so we can see exactly where the university's and our tuition dollars are going," says a student. "They also promised us potential amnesty to the students and dropping all the charges. And dropping the bans on the two that the bans have not been dropped on. And then lastly is starting a partnership with a Palestinian university or helping to rebuild the universities that have been destroyed in Gaza."

Student leaders say if the university does not uphold their promises to students, they will reorganize somewhere on campus at the University of Minnesota.

But those students say all they can do is take Ettinger at his word.

"And the University of Minnesota has publicly said that they're going to commit to these things," said one student who spoke to WCCO Radio. "So every person, every person that's come out today is a testament to that. Every organiser, every student, every faculty member is testament to the university's public claim. Now if they go back on their word, that's a bad look on them, not on us."

Ettinger says University leaders will also meet with Jewish student groups to address their concerns over the student protestors demands.

Supplies from the camp will be donated to Camp Nenookaasi, a homeless encampment in South Minneapolis.

Thursday morning, Ettinger says the group has agreed to not interfere with graduation ceremonies or finals week activities. He also says the buildings that had been closed on Northrup Mall will reopen at noon Thursday.
