A $52 million mixed-income housing campus for seniors is now open in Minneapolis’ Bryn Mawr community.

Project backers celebrated a grand opening Tuesday for the Wirth on the Woods development, which includes 100 units of affordable senior housing in one building and 100 units of market-rate senior housing in another, according to a press release. Lupe Development and Swervo Development Corp. collaborated on the development.

Located near Theodore With Park, the development includes a new regional storm pond, an outdoor classroom and a play area for the adjacent Anwatin Middle and Bryn Mawr Elementary schools, “as well as shared amenities for the senior campus,” according to a press release.

Funding sources include loans and grants from the city of Minneapolis, Hennepin County and the Minnesota Housing Finance Agency, as well as Livable Communities Demonstration money from Metropolitan Council. Investors in the project include Great Southern Bank and Raymond James Investments.

Great Southern Bank was the senior lender for the privately funded, market-rate housing. Frana Companies was the general contractor.
