    Minnesota restaurant openings & closings for April 2024

    This month's restaurant openings make it even easier to find cuisine from around the globe right here in the Twin Cities.

    Here's a round-up of some of the latest restaurant news we're following:

    Openings

    Chilango (2730 West Lake Street, Minneapolis): Chilango, a highly-anticipated Mex-Tex restaurant from James Beard-nominated chef Jorge Guzmán, opened this month near Bde Maka Ska. Guzmán is also the chef-owner of Petite León. Read more from Minneapolis-St. Paul Magazine here .

    Coffee Corner (905 Nicollet Mall, Minneapolis): Minneapolis coffee roaster and café Corner Coffee opened a new location this month on downtown's Nicollet Mall. The café takes over the Young Quinlan Building space formerly occupied by gluten-free and vegan eatery Coconut Whisk Café, which closed in late March. Read more here .

    Dangerfield's (1583 East 1st Avenue, Shakopee): Shakopee's iconic supper club, and its famous popovers, returned to the riverfront this month after a two-year hiatus. Read more here.

    Diane's Place (117 14th Avenue Northeast, Minneapolis): Diane Moua, a nationally-recognized Minnesota pastry chef with five James Beard Award nominations, debuted her first restaurant this month. The 1,900-square-foot restaurant brings a full-service Asian bistro, as well as a 2,600-square-feet events space, to the Northeast neighborhood. Read more here .

    The Dive at Coastal Seafoods (268 Snelling Avenue South, St. Paul): Coastal Seafoods this month debuted a restaurant within its new location in the Macalester-Groveland neighborhood. The Dive is complete with outdoor patio seating for guests.

    New York Gyro (312 West Lake Street): A New Lyn-Lake neighborhood restaurant is now open in the space formerly occupied by Chicago's Very Own, according to Southwest Voices.

    Sea Salt Eatery (4825 Minnehaha Avenue, Minneapolis): The popular Minnehaha Falls eatery returned for the season this month. A new sandwich shop next door is expected to follow with an opening in May. Read more here .

    Southern Social (1424 Weir Drive, Woodbury): Social Social, which debuted in Eagan last year, opened a second location in Woodbury this month. The Nashville-inspired restaurant is serving up a wide array of southern cuisine and pouring punchbowl cocktails. Read more here .

    Closings

    A & Dubs (3131 West 3rd Street, Duluth): The owners of Duluth's first and last drive-in restaurant announced the end of their decades-long venture this month. The drive-in, which served burgers, fish-n-chips, fries, ice cream and other diner classics, had been a seasonal staple in the community for 46 years. Read more here.

    Hark! Cafe (430 North 1st Avenue Suite 150, Minneapolis): Gluten-free and vegan eatery Hark! Cafe ended cafe operations Sunday, April 28. In an announcement, Hark's co-owners said they'll focus on catering and wholesale bakery operations moving forward.
