The Minnesota Timberwolves are the first team to advance to the second round of the Playoffs after sweeping the Phoenix Suns on their home floor. However, Sunday’s victory wasn’t all good vibes and celebrations for them, as their head coach, Chris Finch , suffered a brutal knee injury in the fourth quarter of the game.

It happened after Mike Conley Jr. and Devin Booker scrambled over a broken play, which led the Wolves point guard to crash into Finch’s knees.

    A rare sight

This is unfortunate news for the Wolves because Finch will have to address his injury with surgery. While it has yet to be determined whether or not Chris will be on the sidelines for the rest of the playoffs, what’s clear is that he’s going to be physically limited.

After the game, the veteran head coach was seen on crutches in the locker room, with his team huddled around him.

The good news for the Wolves, who clinched their first series victory in 20 years, is that they have some time before they play again. They’re still awaiting the winner of the series between the Denver Nuggets and Los Angeles Lakers , who they will face in the second round. Although he may be physically limited, Conley and the Wolves believe that Finch will be able to resume coaching duties.

“I didn’t see him at first. I was just trying to push the ball up the floor, and Book hip-checked me out of bounds,” Conley said . “Prayers up for him,” Conley said after Game 4. “I’m sure he’ll be fine. We’ll do it for him, and we’ll keep it moving.”

    The Wolves are contenders

The Wolves’ dominant series victory against the Suns is further proof that they have what it takes to win the championship this season. With their size, length, and athleticism, they match up well with the Nuggets, assuming the defending champions make it to the second round.

Minnesota is significantly better than the version of themselves that the Nuggets bounced out in five games last season. They might just be Denver's toughest opponent since last year's playoffs.

This Wolves team has a star in Anthony Edwards , surrounded by two All-Stars in Rudy Gobert and Karl Anthony Towns , and quality role players who star in their own roles. On top of all that, they have a smart tactician and leader, Chris Finch, who, even if he is injured moving forward, will coach one hell of a series like he has all season.
