Carson High football back at home for another 5A foe
RECORDS: Carson (1-1); Damonte Ranch (1-0) SERIES: The two sides are even in wins, 9-9, since 2006. Damonte has won the last six meetings. AT STAKE: The Senators will be anxious to put last week in the rear-view mirror and what better way to do that than knocking off a 5A North team? The Mustangs have had Carson’s number over the last decade, having not lost to the Senators since 2015. The sides have only met twice since 2019, and both of those games came during the 2024 season.

Fallon downs Reed; Galena, Damonte Ranch roll to victories
Football supremacy in Northern Nevada lies about 60 miles east of Reno. Fallon proved last week's win over Bishop Manogue was not a fluke. The Class 3A Greenwave once again beat a 5A school to start the season 2-0. Reed was the victim Friday night as Fallon took a 14-13 win on the new turf at Reed, repaying the favor when Reed won the inaugural game on Fallon's new turf two years ago. On Friday night, Fallon jumped on Reed early, taking a 14-0 into the late third quarter after scores by Calin Anderson on a pass from Camden Richardson, and an Alijah Juarez 20-yard TD run. Reed scored with 1 minute 47 seconds left in the third, then added another touchdown with 2:44 remaining on an 84-yard catch-and-run by Jesse Douglas from quarterback Peyton Smith. But Fallon's Alijah Juarez blocked the extra-point attempt and the Greenwave ran out the clock. Juarez had a big part in that also. He ran for a first down with less than 2 minutes remaining and Fallon went into victory formation. Fallon coach Calvon Connors said the Greenwave are confident after beating two 5A teams. "Tonight was not pretty by any means. I've got

Spanish Springs rolls; North Valleys and South Tahoe win at Mackay
High school football players got a chance to play at Mackay Stadium on Saturday and they took advantage of the opportunity, delivering a couple thrilling last-minute finishes and a couple blowouts. In the final game of the night, as smoke from the Hawk Fire darkened the sky to the north, Spanish Springs picked up where it left off last season, downing Carson 35-7. Kanon Boggs found Deacon Buddy for four touchdown passes in the first half as the Cougars built a 35-0 lead. McQueen had a rematch with the team it beat last season for the Class 4A state championship, but this time Sloan Canyon came out on top, taking a 28-21 win. The teams were tied at 14 at the half, then the Lancers scored to open the third quarter. But that ended the scoring for McQueen. Sloan Canyon tied it at 21 shortly after the Lancers scored, then punched in the winning TD with a few minutes remaining in the game. North Valleys held off Lowry in taking a 13-7 win in Saturday's third game. The Panthers scored with three minutes remaining on a short run by quarterback Trenton Reyna, then the point-after kick was blocked. But the
