Milton wins team title behind Wieland brothers at Holmen Viking Invitational

The three teams who have been leading the Badger Large Conference all season — Milton, DeForest and Waunakee — took their collective show on the road Wednesday to the Holmen Viking Invitational in Holmen.

The Red Hawks won the team title with a four-player score of 315, paced by individual runner-up Brett Wieland’s round of 75 and Kade Wieland’s 77, which was part of a four-way tie for third.

Norskies golfer Lincoln Hottmann was the invite’s top medalist after carding a round of 73, and the Warriors took second in the team standings behind conference foe Milton with a team total of 319 shots.

The other two Milton players who contributed to the final varsity score both finished among the top 24 players in the event. Michael Axe shot an 81 to tie for 18th, and Tyler Birkhimer had an 82 as part of a five-way tie for 20th.
