Body found during search for missing Milledgeville man, GBI says

ELBERT COUNTY, Ga. — Police found a body on Wednesday during a search for a missing man in eastern Georgia.

Dawson Brandon Lee, 24, from Milledgeville, had been missing for several days.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation said records from Lee’s vehicle indicated he left Milledgeville and traveled to Elbert County on Wednesday, April 17.

Multiple law enforcement agencies and four GBI regional investigative offices assisted in trying to find Lee.

On Wednesday at about noon, police found a man’s body in the woods near Lee’s abandoned vehicle in Elbert County.

A GBI medical examiner will perform an autopsy to determine how the man died and positively identify him.

The GBI said the initial investigation indicates the man found is Lee, but the results of the autopsy will confirm it.

Their early investigation indicates there are no signs of foul play.
