Wellersburg fire hall and community center will expand to house more equipment, people
WELLERSBURG ― Wellersburg's community center will be expanding to offer more services thanks in part to grant money the fire department received. Chief Deputy Whip Guy Reschenthaler, R-PA, secured $61 million in community project funding through the passage of H.R. 4366, the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2024. President Joe Biden signed the legislation into law on March 9.
Rockwood dedicates new Veterans Memorial and Community Park after eight-year effort
Hundreds of community members gathered to celebrate the completion and dedication of the new Veterans Memorial and Community Park in Rockwood Saturday morning. On Memorial Day in 2016, officials say two local veterans noted a half-demolished building on main street that sat next to where memorial day events were held each year. They say they created a grassroots committee full of Rockwood residents with the goal of replacing the area with a community park.
