MIDLAND, Texas (KMID/KPEJ) – The Midland Police Department responded to a disturbance with a weapon in west Midland Thursday evening.

At about 9:52pm on Thursday, April 25, officers responded to the 1900 block of North Midland Drive, where MPD said the incident involved a male subject, armed with a knife, not allowing his girlfriend to leave the apartment.

Upon arrival, officers found both subjects through an open door to the apartment. The male subject immediately slammed the door on the officers, starting to make verbal threats to harm officers with a knife and a gun. Officers then forcefully entered the apartment, removing the female subject from the apartment before the male slammed the door again, barricading himself inside the apartment.

After around an hour of negotiations, 40-year-old Jason Williams peacefully surrendered and was taken into custody.

Williams was transported and booked with multiple charges, including resisting arrest, terroristic threats to a peace officer, evading arrest, and interfering with public duty.

As of Friday afternoon, Williams remains in the Midland County Jail on $20,000 bond.
