HS Softball: Midland Park Pounds Out Win Over Wood-Ridge

MIDLAND PARK, NJ – Midland Park scored seven runs in the fifth inning to defeat Wood-Ridge, 15-5, in a girls softball game on Saturday. The seven run triggered the 10-rule and ended the game in the bottom of the fifth. Midland Park is now 7-9 on the season, Wood-Ridge is now 6-10.

The game started with a bang, as Wood-Ridge scored four in the top of the first, only to have Midland Park bounce back with six in the bottom of the inning. Midland Park scored individual runs in the second and the fourth, before their last inning outburst.

Madeline McCotter had two runs batted in for the Blue Devils, who were held to four hits on the day, but drew eight walks.

Isabella Capuano took the loss for the Blue Devils, who scored 15 runs, just nine earned on 18 hits, and two walks. Capuano struck out five.
