The third time was the charm for West Side’s Reagan Bingham at the 2A State Track & Field Championships. The junior reigned supreme in the girls high jump on Day 1 of the meet, which is being contested at Middleton High School. NNU baseball season ends at regionals
The Northwest Nazarene baseball team went two-and out at the NCAA Division II West Regional Tournament, falling 8-6 in 10 innings to San Francisco State in the opening game of the day, then losing 6-3 to host Cal State Monterey Bay later in the day. Against San Francisco State, the Nighthawks tied the game with RBI hits by Kaleb Karpstein, Carter Walsh and Gavin Brubaker in the bottom of the eighth inning, but the Gators were able to get two runs in the top of the tenth inning and holding Northwest Nazarene without a run in the bottom half of the frame. Adam Paganelli had a solo home run in the second inning to put Northwest Nazarene up 1-0, but the Sea Otters took the lead with a three-run home run in the fourth and three more runs in the fifth innings. The Nighthawks end their season with a 36-14-1 record.
