Over the weekend, two individuals from the area were arrested on multiple felony drug offenses, including dealing cocaine, methamphetamine and marijuana, the La Porte County Sheriff’s Office (Indiana) announced March 22.

The pair — Chelsea Hahn of Middle River and Sadiq Heyward of Baltimore City — were driving along an Indiana toll road when they were stopped, and later taken into custody, by authorities after illegal substances were discovered.

On the morning of March 21, a highway interdiction deputy was monitoring eastbound traffic along the Indiana Toll Road (I-80/90) in the area of the 47-mile marker, officials said. Law enforcement officials observed a passenger vehicle pass by following a commercial motor vehicle too closely.

According to LCSO, the vehicle’s windows had an extremely dark tint, obstructing the view of anything inside. A traffic stop on the vehicle was initiated by the deputy near the 52-mile marker.

Hahn, 27, was identified as the driver and the passenger was identified as Heyward. As the stop progressed, “probable cause was established that criminal activity was afoot,” officials said. After a second interdiction deputy arrived, a search of the vehicle commenced and yielded an assortment of illegal narcotics, authorities said.

Heyward and Hahan were taken into custody and transported to the La Porte County Jail (LCJ). They were both were arrested for the following offenses:

• Dealing Cocaine — Level 2 Felony

• Dealing Methamphetamine — Level 2 Felony

• Dealing I, II, or III Controlled Substance — Level 2 Felony

• Dealing Marijuana — Level 5 Felony

The two remain housed in the LCJ and are being held on a $50,005.00 cash bond through La Porte County Circuit Court.

White Marsh stabbing under investigation

Local law enforcement authorities are investigating a non-fatal stabbing that occurred in White Marsh over the weekend.

On the afternoon of March 23 shortly before 2 p.m., officers from the White Marsh precinct responded to the 8200 block of Perry Hall Boulevard for a reported stabbing, police said. Upon arrival, they located an adult male victim who suffered a non-life-threatening cut wound while inside the location.

The adult male victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment, officials said.

“The investigation is in the preliminary stages, and updates will be provided as additional information becomes available,” says a BCPD statement. “There is no threat to the community and this appears to be an isolated incident.”
