Jackson’s Automotive Manufacturing History Presentation. 6 PM. In the early 20th century Jackson was an automobile boom town! There were 24 companies that built cars in Jackson over the years. At one time, this industry was the largest employer in the city. At this free presentation, members of the public are invited to learn from local automotive historian Lloyd Ganton about this fascinating aspect of Jackson history. Following the presentation, a tour of the Museum, which includes 20 Jackson-made automobiles, will take place. The event is set to take place at the Ye Ole Carriage Shop Museum in Spring Arbor on Wednesday, June 12th, 2024, at 6pm. Ye Ole Carriage Shop houses 20 Jackson-made autos. There are a few autos that it does not have; three of those are extinct and three cannot be purchased. Lloyd is considered the authority on historic Jackson automobiles. The museum offers many other rooms of memorabilia and collectibles. Lloyd has been collecting them for 45 years and still continues today.
