MIAMI ( WFLA ) — TSA agents at Miami International Airport found a slithery surprise last Friday after a traveler attempted to sneak a bag of snakes through security.

The kicker? He was trying to transport them in his pants.

On April 26, the man — who the TSA did not publicly identify — was passing through a checkpoint at MIA ahead of an international flight, a spokesperson for the TSA told Nexstar. But once he entered a screener utilizing advanced imaging technology (AIT), officers noticed “an anomaly in his midsection.”

The man was instructed to step aside for a pat down, the spokesperson confirmed, at which point he simply fessed up.

“He admitted there were snakes in his pants,” the TSA spokesperson said.

After TSA agents removed the snakes from his possession, they called U.S. Customs and Border Protection and Miami-Dade police, who turned the little pink snakes over to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission.

The TSA confirmed that the man’s ticket was canceled as a result of the incident.

Representatives for the CBP or FWC were not immediately available to comment on any charges the man may have faced, or what type of snakes the man was attempting to smuggle through security.

The TSA was also unable to provide details on where the man was traveling, or why he may have attempted to smuggle the creatures. Users on social media, however, had their theories.

“Maybe he wanted to film a remake of the movie ‘Snakes on a Plane,'” one user joked.
