SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) — From a small town to the small screen, a Siouxland family submitted a video that has made it’s way onto America’s Funniest Home Videos.

On a random night in Merrill, Iowa, Karen and her daughter Nevaeh Milner decided to pick up their phone and film a funny video, not knowing it would provide a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

Nevaeh attached a TENS machine to her arm, which is used to relieve pain and relax muscles. With the device on, she made an attempt to pick up and drink a glass of water.

“So we ended up hooking up a TENS machine up to Nevaeh one night, and while she was trying to take a drink of water we would turn it up, and her arm would lose control. Water got everywhere in our living room, but it was fun,” said Karen and Nevaeh.

Roughly a week later, Karen saw an ad on Facebook to submit a video to America’s Funniest Home Videos and possibly win $20,000. She said why not, thinking her recording wouldn’t get chosen.

“I think she was more shocked than me, because she turned the video in and was like there’s no way it’s gonna, you know,” said Nevaeh.

“Well, at first I didn’t think it was real, because there were a lot of people commenting saying they turned their videos in and never got a callback, so when she called me I thought it was a scam at first, but after talking to them, yeah, I was excited,” said Karen.

Already the Milners know what they will do with the $20,000 if they win.

“I wanna be able to go on vacation with it. Like if we win, it just means winning together, so going on vacation, and taking a break, just spending time together, I think, would be neat,” said Karen.

However, whether they win 1st place or not the family will treasure the memory of making it onto AFV.

“It’s a great experience no matter what. Doing it together and being able to do it with her, and Jay and you know going through all the emotions was more fun than anything,” said Karen and Nevaeh.

The Milner’s video aired on AFV, and the family said they would consider filming and submitting another recording in the future.
