MERIDEN, Conn. (WTNH) — Three ex-felons were arrested last night after police say guns were involved in an altercation.

Officers with the Meriden Police Department were sent to 236 Grove St. at around 11:28 p.m. after witnesses in the area reported a fight happening between three males with one of them dropping a firearm. Witnesses were also able to give a police description of the suspect with the gun.

While at the scene, officers approached three males they observed getting into a vehicle, that is when police say the men admitted to having a verbal dispute “where they were attempting to calm the driver down.”

The three men arrested are James Hill and Ernest Harold both from Hamden, and Jeremiah Perkins from Waterbury.

Hill, who had an active arrest warrant for failing to register as a sex offender, was charged with criminal possession of a firearm, carrying a pistol without a permit, having weapons in a vehicle, and the illegal sale, delivery, or transfer of pistols and revolvers. He is being held on a $700,000 bond.

After recognizing that one of the men matched the physical description provided by witnesses, officers conducted a weapons search on both the vehicle and the suspects. The search revealed two fully loaded guns under the front passenger seat.

Harold is being held on a $500,000 bond and was charged with criminal possession of a firearm, carrying a pistol without a permit, having weapons in a vehicle, and the illegal sale, delivery, or transfer of pistols and revolvers.

Perkins’ charges include criminal possession of a firearm, carrying a pistol without a permit, having weapons in a vehicle, and the illegal sale, delivery, or transfer of pistols and revolvers.

According to police, all three males were convicted felons with previous narcotics and firearm charges.
