    Softball roundup: Mendon softball gets no-hitter from Rowan Allen

    MENDON - The Mendon Hornets reached their 20th win on the season Tuesday evening at home. It came in a double header sweep of visiting Colon.

    The Hornets won 11-0 and 15-0 on the evening.

    Rowan Allen pitched Mendon to a victory in the first game. She threw a no-hitter and struck out 11 batters in the game.

    Mendon scored six times in the first inning and added three in the second and two in the third.

    Jadyn Samson logged two hits in the game and Brielle Bailey had two hits and drove in three runs. Cienna Nightingale and Abby Butler both had a hit that drove in two runs, Kaidee Gonser also singled.

    Alyssa Hess struck out five batters for Colon inside the circle.

    The second game saw Ally Butler pick up the win for Mendon. She struck out nine batters and scattered two hits in the contest.

    Colon got hits from Reese Williams and Peighton Stouder.

    Mendon scored runs in every inning. The Hornets posted two in the first, five in the second, three in the third, one in the fourth and four more in the fifth.

    Bailey connected for three hits and two RBIs in this one while Ally Butler added two hits and three runs driven in. Allen and Nightingale each drove in two runs with a pair of hits and Samson connected for two hits as well.

    Abby Butler drove in one with two hits, Brooke Gerth and Addison Lux each had two hits and Gonser collected an RBI.

    Bronson sweeps Union City

    The Bronson softball team beat Union City twice on Tuesday. The Vikings won 17-5 and 16-0.

    In the opener, Ashlynn Harris pitched Bronson to the win with 12 strikeouts. She added three base hits at the plate as well. Brealyn Lasky belted four hits and drove in one, Lydia Wells finished with three hits and two RBIs while Ciara Blankenship singled twice and drove in one.

    Mya Webb singled twice as well while Kailynne Scare drove in a pair, Braelynn Gimenez also had a hit.

    Mya Webb did not allow a hit in the second game, striking out three.

    Harris and Wells each clubbed three hits and drove in four combined runs. Blankenship, Roni Bir and Lasky each had two hits with one run driven in, Webb singled twice. Gimenez drove in two with a double, Scare drove in one with a single.

    Three Rivers handles Plainwell

    Three Rivers improved to 14-5 on the softball season with a pair of wins over Plainwell on Tuesday. The Lady Cats won 15-0 and 11-0.

    Jennaya Decker pitched TR to the win in the opener, striking out nine. At the plate, Emily Ventrone logged three hits and three RBIs while Lanie Glass, London Hoffmaster and Allie McGlothlen each had two hits and combined to drive in five. Dani Glass drove in two as well. Ava Forman, Andrea Bell, Peyton Ware and Kendall Penny each had hits.

    Decker picked up the win in the second game as well, striking out 12 and allowing just two hits. Hoffmaster led the Wildcat offense with three hits and four RBIs, Forman added two hits and Decker drove in a pair with a base hit.

    Sturgis drops a pair

    The Sturgis softball team fell 13-2 and 16-0 to visiting Plainwell on Tuesday evening. Riley Northrop did hit a home run for the Trojans while Haylee Pappas had two hits in the first game. The second game saw Sturgis collect no hits at the plate.

    Constantine beats Lawton twice

    The Constantine softball team beat Lawton twice on Tuesday, winning 13-2 and 12-2.

    Jozee Buglione clubbed three hits and drove in one, Kaitlyn Ross drove in three runs with a double. Olivia Herlein finished with two hits in the game.

    Ross picked up the win, striking out 10.

    Ross drove in two with a pair of hits in the second game as well. Oliva Ransbottom and Raeann Michalek each had two hits in the game as well. Taryn Wolfinger drove in one with a base hit.

    Wolfinger also picked up the win on the mound with four strikeouts.

    Burr Oak hammers Climax-Scotts

    The Burr Oak softball team beat Climax-Scotts twice on Tuesday. The Bobcats picked up a 10-0 win in the first game and a 19-4 victory in the second.

    Brooklynn Root pitched Burr Oak to wins in both games, striking out a combined 15 batters.

    Inez Ultz had two hits and two RBIs in the first game, Braylyn Hernandez added two hits and one run driven in while Lill Holtom also drove in a pair of runs. Makaila Whittington and Root each had an RBI base hit.

    Root clubbed two hits and drove in four during the second game. Natalie Hemenway, Elaine Holtom and Whittington each drove in one with a hit while Lilly Holtom drove in three with one hit.
