More clouds and unsettled waves of showers expected into tonight, but slightly warmer today for this National Day of Prayer, May 2. Our day today begins bright with some lighter cloud cover, but much like yesterday it'll get cloudy and showers and thunder and snow are a possibility, especially for the south and east. Opinion: First in the nation: Republican Veterans Committeeman
I was sitting at the counter of a soup and sandwich shop in downtown Idaho Falls a few summers ago when a man and his family entered and sat at a nearby table. A husband, with his wife and kids in tow, an everyday Idaho family, about to enjoy a meal. What struck me, the thing that stood out, was the man’s hat and shirt. The man’s hat was embroidered with the service ribbons of an Afghanistan veteran of the global war on terror, and his shirt read “I was once willing to give my life for what this country stood for, now I’d give my life to protect my family from what this country has become.” It wasn’t the sentiment so much as it was the realization that this veteran felt that they had to resort to wearing a novelty T-shirt to give voice to their dissatisfaction.
