OUR TOWN: May Day! May 1! Spring is here!
MAY DAY! MAY 1! SPRING IS HERE! Enjoy the greening of lawns, walk the streets and admire the flowery bushes, yellow daffodils and forsythia shrubs, all in bloom. May Day is celebrated in many countries with school off, girls in white dresses with flowers in their hair, dancing around a maypole, decorated with streamers. Scandinavian countries, such as Norway, Finland, Sweden, Denmark and Iceland observe the arrival of spring in this way. Here in the USA, we simply smile and grin, plant gardens and flowers and mow the grass. Also, watch and play baseball, soccer games and play golf. Spring is here!
