Man suspected of raping victim at gunpoint assigned trial date
A trial date was set Wednesday for exactly one year after a man was suspected of sexually assaulting a woman after breaking into her Oildale home. Alvin Carter, 37, was charged with forcible oral copulation, first-degree burglary, burglary with the intent to commit oral copulation and kidnapping. He has pleaded not guilty to all of the charges.

Legendary educator, PC Hall of Fame honoree, Aguilar dies
A legendary educator who received Porterville College's Distinguished Alumni Award as part of PC's Hall of Fame, has died. Dr. Robert Aguilar died on March 20. He was 90. Aguilar received PC's Distinguished Alumni Hall of Fame Award in 2015. He attended Porterville College from 1956 to 1958 after attending Delano Schools. He went onto a career that spanned more than five decades in education, including becoming the Delano School District superintendent.
