The Griffin School District believes this wholeheartedly, continuously creating ways for students to learn, celebrate and respect other cultures. It’s part of its mission to create lifelong learners who lead productive, healthy and responsible lives. This school year, fourth graders at Griffin School are participating in a very special event with the Squaxin Island Tribe. On Wednesday, June 5, 2024 at 1 p.m., the Griffin School is holding a Squaxin Island Tribe Flag Ceremony at 6530 33rd Avenue NW in Olympia. The public is invited to join the celebration and witness the raising of the Squaxin Island Tribe flag.
Eugene announces next Public Works Director
EUGENE, Ore. — The City of Eugene has selected Rich Hoey, currently assistant city manager in Olympia, Wash., as the next director of Public Works. Hoey replaces Matt Rodrigues, who was appointed assistant city manager in early 2023 but has been continuing to work as Public Works director while a replacement was found. Hoey will begin July 29.
