JONES COUNTY, Texas — A tornado that touched down in Hawley May 2 was rated as an EF3, according to preliminary damage survey results by the National Weather Service. Estimated peak winds associated with the tornado that was on the ground for 3.29 miles were 165 mph. The width of the tornado was reportedly equal to two football fields (210 yards).
