Round-up: Vinton Co. Memorial Day services planned
A round-up of all things Vinton and Jackson counties… First, Wellston area scouts representing Cub Pack 5058, Troop 5057, and Girl Scout Troop 9387 replaced worn flags in Ridgewood Cemetery ahead of the Memorial Day holiday. The group of 20 scouts and adult volunteers placed approximately 1,440 flags throughout the cemetery on May 21. Flags collected from the cemetery will be retired during a Flag Day ceremony in June at the Wellston American Legion. ...

The Ohio Department of Transportation reports that the following projects are anticipated to affect highways in Hocking County. Outlined work is weather permitting. State Route 328 culvert replacement — A culvert replacement project is taking place on state Route 328 between Vickers Road (Township Road 399) and Moore Road (County Road 333). One lane is closed and traffic is being maintained with temporary signals. The intersection of Vickers Road/state Route 328 is also closed. Estimated completion: Oct. 1 U.S. 33 concrete bridge deck overlay — A concrete bridge deck overlay project is taking place on U.S. 33 between SR 328 and SR 595. One lane is closed in each direction.Estimated completion: Oct. 1 State Route 374 resurfacing — A resurfacing project is taking place on state Route 374, between state Route 180 and U.S. 33. Traffic is being maintained by flaggers.Estimated completion: July 31
Summer EBT program gives families extra food dollars while school is out
ATHENS, Ohio (WOUB) — Children who get free breakfast and lunch during the school year no longer have to worry about where to eat during the summer break.
