    PVAS granted care of animals in second hoarding case

    McALLEN, Texas ( ValleyCentral ) — The Palm Valley Animal Society was granted care of 60+ animals found in a second animal hoarding case.

    On April 4, a warrant was issued to raid a residence at the 300 block of West Fern Avenue.

    According to a previous ValleyCentral report , McAllen personnel determined there were numerous animals in the home including dogs, cats and birds.

    Faith Wright, the Director of Operations with the Palm Valley Animal Society said, there were 64 cats, six dogs, one parrot and one turtle inside the residence.

    Authorities arrested 63-year-old Jose Antonio Moli with 68 counts of cruelty to non-livestock animals, according to the McAllen Police Department.

    All animals were taken to Palm Valley Animal Society, where they began treating the cats who had ear mites, ringworm and other necessary medical treatments.

    Palm Valley also checked which cats were pregnant and which cats may need more skin treatment.

    On Friday, Palm Valley announced on social media that the 60+ animals from the second animal hoarding case have been signed into their care.

    All animals in the second animal hoarding case are now eligible for adoption, foster and rescue.

    PVAS says those interested in adopting can expect a $50 fee and $50 surgery deposit for pets who may need to be spayed or neutered.
