MAYVILLE — Lakeside’s baseball team pushed its win streak to six games with a 4-1 extra-inning win at Mayville in nonconference play on Friday.

Cooper Brakmanis, who had some solid contact all game, lined a double to left field to open the Lakeside eighth. Aidan Berg then bunted for a hit. With runners at the corners, Berg stole second and Brakmanis scored the go-ahead run on an error on the throw. With one out, Tyler Chopp plated Berg with an RBI single. After winning pitcher Nolan Meis singled, Thomas Dwyer’s fielder’s choice made it 4-1.

Meis struck out three over three innings, allowing an eighth-inning run before getting Cohen Raddemann, who represented the tying run, to ground out to end it.

Matthew Krueger pitched the first five frames, allowing an unearned run on four hits with five strikeouts, no walks for the Warriors (11-3).

“Krueger had terrific control and poured in the strikes early on,” Lakeside baseball coach Jake Ziel said. “He deserved to win this game with the way he pitched.

“Chopp, our center fielder, made a sensational over the shoulder sliding catch in the third on the sac fly by Mayville. His range and athleticism was on display on that play, which was special.”
