Regarding the School Committee meeting on Oct. 13, I read with some interest the section where the bus driver addressed the committee. She brought up points about the construction around the high school as well as elsewhere in town, parents being in the wrong area and lanes to collect their children, write-ups from drivers that are not acted upon and being late for school pickups due to returning unruly children to school.

Taunton drivers face overnight roadwork detours

Drivers using Route 24 and Route 140 in Taunton should expect overnight lane closures and detours from Nov. 1 through 5 while the Massachusetts Department of Transportation performs roadwork at the interchange. The work will run nightly from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning, according to a community announcement. Work is anticipated to be completed by the morning of Nov. 6. Lane closures are planned on Route 24 and Route 140 during working hours. Several ramps and portions of the interchange will also be affected by detours. Route 24 detours Drivers traveling on Route 24 southbound who would normally use exit 17A, Ramp B, should continue south and take exit 16 to Padelford Street. Drivers should turn left onto Padelford Street, turn right onto the ramp to Route 24 northbound and take exit 17A to Route 140 southbound. Drivers on Route 24 northbound who would normally use exit 17B, Ramp D, should take exit 17A to Route 140 southbound, then take exit 19A to Stevens Street and use the on-ramp to Route 140 northbound. Route 140 detours Drivers on Route 140 northbound should take exit 20A to Route 24 northbound and then exit 20B to Route 44 westbound.
