MASONTOWN, W.Va. (WBOY) — Preston County Parks and Recreation hosted the Holy Guacamole 5K two-mile run and walk Sunday as part of its Cinco De Mayo celebration at the Masontown Trail Head Park on Deckers Creek Trail.

President of Preston County Parks and Recreation Josh Waugh expressed his love for the monthly events.

“Our races are held in different parts of the county all year long,” Waugh said.

“So, you get to see the wintertime when we’re running in some places when it was snowy and icy in January’s race to now where we’re starting to get some leaves on the trees and it’s starting to get beautiful.”

Waugh says that the Deckers Creek Trail is a large trail that is part of Mon Trails Conservancy and that people are always utilizing it. He also stated that parks and recreation do a lot of work on the trail and park keeping it in good shape for those who enjoy spending time on it.
