    Northwest Missouri State’s Track and Field Features Multiple MIAA Conference Champions

    (Maryville, MO) – Northwest Missouri State track and field has featured multiple MIAA Champions at the MIAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships this weekend. A total of seven Bearcats were featured as either champions in their individual event or their relay team.

    Starting on the women’s side, the 4×400-meter women’s relay team was able to finish first and earned a new Bearcat Stadium record and the fourth-best record in Northwest Missouri State history. That team included Jaedy Commins, Luisarys Toledo, Kaylee Harp, and Tiffany Hughey. Another top finisher in the individual events was Luisarys Toledo who earned second-place in the javelin throw with a throw of 46.74 meters or 153’4″ which broke her own school record. Tiffany Hughey was able to take first place in the 400-meter dash with a time of 52.07 which broke the school record that she formally set, the Bearcat Stadium record, the MIAA Championship record, and the second-fastest time in Division-II athletics. Toledo placed second in the same race just behind her teammate with a time of 53.23 which sits at #2 in school history and is fifth in Division II.

    On the men’s side, Blake Morgan was able to earn the nation’s 14th highest jump in the high jump with a jump of 2.17 meters or 7’5″ to place third. Reece Smith battled with Drew Atkins as Atkins was able to take the first-place finish in the 5000-meter with a time of 14:22.94. The 4×400-meter relay team of Prince Griffin, Danny Jantzen, Logan Arellano, and Gavyn Monday were able to break the Bearcat Stadium record with the second-fastest time in program history at 3:09.66.

    The Bearcats continue their outdoor season in Seward, Nebraska on Friday and in Kearney, Nebraska on Saturday.
