East senior Bryant earns four medals at regional track and field meet
KINSTON — Janara Bryant followed a fantastic league outdoor track and field meet with a standout performance at the regional competition. The East Carteret senior collected three golds and one silver in the 1A/2A Coastal Plains Conference championship and then produced a gold, silver and two bronzes at the 2A regional meet.
East's Thammavongsa ties for 11th at regional golf match to qualify for state tourney
MONROE — Kai Thammavongsa qualified for the 2A state championship golf tournament with a strong outing at the regional. The East Carteret senior shot an 84 to tie for 11th at Ironwood Golf and Country Club.
West girls earn runner-up finish at 3A regional for second straight year
OCEAN — The West Carteret girls finished second last weekend at the 3A east regional track and field championship. The Patriots posted 68.5 points to pull away from Jacksonville with 62 and Northside-Jacksonville with 58. They have been the runner-up for the last two seasons after winning the regional in 2022.
Cougars fall just short of return trip to girls lacrosse state final with 14-13 loss to Union PInes
CAMERON — The Croatan girls lacrosse team ran out of time Wednesday night in the 1A/2A/3A east regional final. The defending state champion dropped a 14-13 barnburner to Union Pines, failing to reach the state final for the second year in a row.

HILLSBOROUGH — The West Carteret boys lacrosse team won a playoff game for the second time in the last three seasons. The No. 19-seed Patriots (4-8) eked out a 8-7 triumph over No. 14-seed Cedar Ridge (9-11) in the first round.

FAYETTEVILLE — The West Carteret boys tennis team was a volley or two away from advancing to the third round of the dual-team state playoffs. The No. 18-seed Patriots (11-3) suffered a 6-3 loss to No. 2-seed Terry Sanford (10-0) in a match that could have gone either way.
Croatan’s Le, West’s Schulte qualify for state golf tournament
GREENVILLE — Croatan’s Johnathan Le and West Carteret’s Everett Schulte represented their teams at the 3A state golf tournament. Le shot a 78 on the first day and an 82 on the second to total 160 and finish in a tie for 53rd at the Longleaf Golf and Family Club.
