PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) — Peoria Public Schools held its first Multicultural Fair at the Peoria Riverfront Museum on Saturday. The fair is meant to highlight diversity and unity within the community. Vehicle in Illinois River remains under investigation
EAST PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) — The Fon du Lac Park District Police Interim Chief Dale Orr said the vehicle found in the Illinois River on Wednesday remains under investigation. According to Orr, the Illinois Department of Natural Resources is leading the investigation and is working to identify the vehicle’s owner.
UPDATED: Teen dead after Tuesday night shooting in Peoria
UPDATED: (9:50 p.m.) — A Peoria police officer was in the area of the 100 block of East Forrest Hill when several shots were fired, said the department’s spokeswoman. Semone Roth of the Peoria Police Department said the shooting occurred around 7:20 p.m. The officer first heard the shots and then, a few seconds later, an alert from the ShotSpotter gunfire detection system indicated that three rounds had been fired.

Peoria man killed, two others seriously injured in accident with semi
A Peoria man was killed late Sunday in an accident with a semi-truck along Interstate 80 near the Illinois-Iowa border. The Scott County Sheriff's Office said that Eric Fraelle, 52, was killed when his 2024 Chevrolet Trax was rear-ended by a semi-truck, forcing the vehicle into a ditch while the two were driving eastbound along I-80 at mile marker 288 1/2. The incident occurred around 9:41 p.m. Fraelle was found dead at the scene.

Tazewell County Health Department to open office in Pekin later this year
PEKIN, Ill. (WMBD) — The Tazewell County Health Department said their new location on Broadway Street in Pekin should be open and ready for business later this year. The health department said the new office, at 1800 Broadway St., will open in late 2024 and allow it to consolidate its clinic and Women, Infants, and Children Services in the new building. The department will keep its current facility in Tremont, where similar services will be offered.

Shadow box from historic Pekin building holds Civil War medal
