    Softball teams are entering the sectional tournament this week, while baseball teams wrap up the regular season this week before embarking on their tourney runs next week.

    The conference track meets will be held throughout this week before their postseason starts with districts the following week, and boys tennis held its league championships last week.

    So the spring sports season has officially entered the stretch run.

    Baseball tourney draw: Northmor, Highland earn highest seeds in the area for the sectional baseball tournaments

    Winning last week's Marion Star Girls Best of the Week Performer Poll was River Valley softball's Sidney Street who tossed a one-hitter with one walk and 10 strikeouts, plus a double and two singles in a win over Highland. Street earned 256 of 686 votes (37 percent) to win it.

    Other girls nominees were Cardington softball's Abby Ufferman, Elgin track's Addi Holland, Ridgedale softball's Kenzie Delaney, Marion Harding track's Lydia Price and North Union track's Gabby Lindsey.

    In last week's Marion Star Boys Best of the Week Performer Poll, River Valley track and field's Ethan Lyon swept the throws at the Marion Night Invitational, winning the discus in 157-8 and shot put in 56-9.5. He earned 243 of 502 votes (48 percent) to win it.

    Other boys nominees were Elgin baseball's Jacob Isler, Marion Harding baseball's Nathan Cunningham, Northmor baseball's Drew Hammond, Pleasant's 4x800-meter relay team and North Union baseball's Tyler Krebehenne.

    A new poll has been posted by the Marion Star and can be found at MarionStar.com and its app through early Sunday morning.

    Boys Poll

    ● Cardington baseball's Wyatt Denny hit a home run and single to drive in four runs in a win over East Knox.

    ● Highland baseball's Zach Church threw a three-hitter with nine strikeouts, one walk and no earned runs, while also hitting a triple and driving in three runs in a win over Clear Fork.

    ● Marion Harding baseball's Ray J Scott-Harbolt blasted a pair of three-run home runs in a win over Pleasant.

    ● Northmor track's Cowin Becker won the 400 meters in 51.23 and the long jump at 21 feet, 5 inches at the Mount Gilead Invitational.

    ● Pleasant track's Nick Swartz won the 3200 meters in a school record time of 9:48.99 at the Marion Country Meet.

    Girls Poll

    ● Pleasant softball's Hannah Miller posted a triple, two doubles, a single and five RBIs in a win over Ridgedale.

    ● North Union softball's Reese DeCamp pitched a two-hitter with no walks and 10 strikeouts, plus hit a home run and three singles for four RBIs in a win over Tecumseh.

    ● River Valley softball's Sam Woods hit two doubles and two singles in a win over Galion.

    ● Northmor softball's Kallie Wright batted in three runs with a triple, double and single in a win over Crestline.

    ● Mount Gilead track's Abby Leonard won the shot put in 33-9.5 and the discus in 95-10 at the homestanding Mount Gilead Invitational.
