Judge allows Glenville back into Ohio high school football playoffs
An Ohio football powerhouse is back in the high school playoffs thanks to a judge's Oct. 30 ruling. Judge Andrew Santoli granted a temporary restraining order filed by Glenville High School, allowing them to play their game against University School after originally being banned from the playoffs . The game was scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30. OHSAA released a statement early Friday evening saying the game would be rescheduled for some time this weekend. Santoli's decision comes after attorneys Michael L. Nelson Sr., Stanley Jackson and James L. Hardiman filed a motion in Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court on Oct. 29 on behalf of two Glenville players. "Unless some immediate injunctive relief is granted, the entire football team will suffer permanent and irreparable harm," the motion reads. The ruling temporarily reverses the Ohio High School Athletic Association's decision to remove the No. 5 seed in Region 9 from the postseason due to an investigation into a Glenville player's eligibility. A hearing is scheduled for Monday, Nov. 2, according to OHSAA.
