Weather Alert Day: Severe storm & flood risk Monday
MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) - As we kick-off this new work week, it’s going to be a soaker. Due to numerous upper-level disturbances sliding across our region, we can expect rounds of rain between now and Tuesday morning. Each round could bring a good dose of rain, and the rain could be heavy and prolonged at times...leading to big flooding concerns. Areas south of I-20 are under a Flood Watch now through Tuesday morning due to being the most favorable areas to get upwards of 3 inches... possibly up to 5 inches. The rest of our area may not get as much, but could still receive anywhere from 1-3 inches.

Severe threat has fizzled for Monday night
MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) - UPDATE: Severe threat is over for the night. Heavy rain this morning made the commute a soggy one for sure, rainfall estimates ranged from 1-3″ on average. Thankfully, that rain moved out by Midday... and the rest of the afternoon has been rather pleasant. Yet, another wave of rain is on the way, and there’s a low-end threat for isolated severe storms affiliated with it. Damaging wind and hail are the main threats, but even those threats are low as our overall severe risk has lessened due to a lack of instability in our area.
