Man charged with assault with intent to murder after weekend stabbing in Port Huron
A 41-year-old man is facing two felonies after Port Huron police said he allegedly stabbed a subject attempting to intervene in a dispute in Port Huron’s northside Saturday. Aaron Schoenrock was arraigned on charges of assault with intent to murder and first-degree home invasion on Monday afternoon. According to the St. Clair County District Court docket, he stood mute during the hearing, and no attorney was listed for Schoenrock as of Tuesday.
Police Beat: Clay Township
While on patrol on May 21, Clay Township police conducted a traffic stop in the area of Dyke Road and Saint John Drive on a Ford F-350 for a speeding violation, according to a police report. Officers made contact with the driver, and while speaking with him, noticed a strong odor of alcohol coming from the vehicle. Both occupants admitted to consuming alcohol and said they had a few drinks at dinner. The driver exited the vehicle upon the officers’ request and sobriety evaluations were administered, after which the driver was taken into custody for operating under the influence. He was transported back to the Clay Township Police Department for processing. Because of the passenger’s level of intoxication, she was transported back to the Clay Township Police Department, where she was able to call for a sober party to pick her up. The vehicle was towed from the location and impounded and a report was generated regarding the incident that will be sent to the township prosecutor for review.

A 54-year-old motorcyclist is dead after he collided with a deer Saturday night in St. Clair County, in the thumb region. The man’s passenger was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
Man cuts ex-girlfriend’s new boyfriend with machete while they slept in Macomb County
WARREN, Mich. – A man has been convicted of breaking into his ex-girlfriend’s home in Macomb County and cutting her new boyfriend with a machete while the couple and six children were sleeping. The attack happened May 1, 2023, at the woman’s home in Warren, officials said.
Sheriff: Driver was doing donuts before crash in St. Clair County
A St. Clair County man was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries on June 3 following a crash in China Township. According to the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a side-by-side crash at the intersection of McKinley and Puttygut roads in China Township shortly after 9 p.m. At the scene, they found a 2022 blue Ford Maverick rolled onto the driver’s side.

Fundraiser to support former Chesterfield Township police officer
An upcoming fundraiser will support the recovery of a former Chesterfield Township police officer struggling with post-traumatic stress disorder. Chesterfield Township Trustees David Joseph and Hank Anderson will host a fundraiser for former officer Joshua Baker from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. June 12 at Arctic Circle Brewing Co., located at 27663 23 Mile Road in Chesterfield Township. 3 women charged in Macomb County identity theft ring linked to cellphone accounts
WARREN, Mich. – Three women have been charged in connection with a high-value Macomb County identity theft ring linked to compromised cellphone accounts. Breanna Faye Johnson, 25, of Harrison, Samantha Grace-Alberta Parker, 32, of Westland, and Danielle Lynn Courtney, 51, of Westland, were arrested last week by Warren police.
One injured following weekend UTV crash
The driver of a Utility Terrain Vehicle was found unresponsive Saturday night following a crash at the intersection of McKinley and Puttygut Roads in China Township. St. Clair Sheriff’s Department says the 35-year-old man from East China Township had been driving recklessly, performing doughnuts in the intersection prior to the crash. He was taken to McLaren Hospital of Macomb to be treated for severe injuries. His passenger, a 35-year-old from St. Clair, was uninjured. Authorities report alcohol was indeed a factor in the incident.
